Bringing hygge into the early years
Wednesday 2nd Dec 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FREEThe Danish word “hygge” (pronounced “hoo-gah”) has become a very popular concept in the last couple of years. It translates roughly to “cosiness,” but it means so much more than that. So what is hygge and how can you incorporate it into your early years practice?
Join Kinderly Ambassador and childminder, Vikkie Murray as she describes how you can bring more joy and warmth into your early years setting via the wonderful approach that is hygge.
In today’s fast-paced society, it has never been more important to slow down, to notice, to revel, to enjoy. Childhood should be filled with moments of joy and wonder, of laughter, love and comfort – a hygge approach encourages us to embrace this and build it into children’s lives in our settings. Introducing a hygge philosophy into Early Years practice supports us in making children feel a sense of security, belonging and joy in our settings and their learning, and encourages us to care for one of our most valuable assets, ourselves and our staff.
In this one-hour webinar, Kinderly Ambassador Vikkie Murray will explore how to:
- Create a calming and welcoming environment
- Develop children’s sense of belonging and well-being
- Plan around children’s interests
- Embrace nature
- Add wonder, joy and curiosity to the learning environment and invitations to play
- Enhance practitioner wellbeing
