Dr Amanda Norman – Teddies and transitional objects in the early years
Wednesday 7th Oct @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
£5
Childcare providers have policies and procedures about home toys, alongside transitional and settling in policies. Informed by this, the webinar bridges and extends the thinking about those teddies and toys from home beyond the practicalities in the setting. ‘Transitional Objects’ and the psychology behind the objects and why some children develop an attachment to them will therefore be explored with the aim to gain a deeper understanding about children’s emotional development and experiences as they move from home to setting.
Ways to include transitional objects, in light of new safety guidance, will also be considered. This will include how risk assessments and age-appropriate practices can support play with transitional objects.
