child struggling to self regulate

Why has young children’s self-regulation become such an important topic? In this webinar, early years academics Dr Sue Robson & Dr Antonia Zachariou will explore what self-regulation is, and why it matters for everyone working with and caring for young children.

Based on the learnings from their recently published book, Self-Regulation in the Early Years, Sue and Antonia will initially explore:

  • What self-regulation is and how it develops
  • How self-regulation is affected by children’s relationships – with adults and one another
  • How practitioners can observe, assess and document young children’s self-regulation to gain a clear picture of their competence
  • How to develop self-regulation through communication, play, music and problem-solving and all across the curriculum.
  • The webinar will conclude with a look at how we can plan – and not plan – to support young children’s self-regulation.
