Kerry Murphy – Understanding and supporting ADHD traits in young children
Wednesday 19th Oct 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
£5Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has traditionally been associated with energetic young boys. However, over the last decade, there has been an increasing understanding of the neurotype and efforts to break down some of the stereotypes and stigma that exist.
This webinar provides a holistic introduction to ADHD, including definition, traits, needs and practical strategies. Please note that ADHD is often diagnosed later in childhood, and so this webinar will account for children who have traits, as well as those on diagnostic pathways. Across the webinar, you will learn about:
- Current understanding of ADHD, including a neurodiversity-affirming definition
- Key traits of ADHD which takes us beyond the myth of an “attention deficit” and explore hyperfocus, intense interests, sensitivity dysphoria and time “blindness
- Key strategies for supporting children with ADHD traits or a diagnosis with ADHD and consider how to make these personalised.
This course will be delivered by Kerry Murphy, who has lived experience of ADHD and autism.
