Marlis Juerging-Coles – Time to Talk: Language development in the Early Years

Wednesday 6th Mar @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

£5
Young child on the phone

Join this webinar with Early Years expert Marlis Juerging-Coles and explore how to effectively support children’s language development by creating an environment that feeds both connections and an intrinsic motivation to talk

As communication and language development becomes ever more of a focus following the Covid-19 pandemic,  its impact on the youngest members of our society, language acquisition and development has caught the attention of the Early Years Sector.

Whether we talk about average language expectations, pressure to ‘catch up’, or the neuroscience behind child development in general, we all want our children to feel seen and heard. But how do we get there when so many settings are reporting a speech and language delay in their children?

Join this webinar and explore how we can effectively support children’s language development by creating an environment that feeds both connections and an intrinsic motivation to talk.

About the speaker

headshot Marlis Juerging Coles

Marlis Juerging-Coles grew up as the child and grandchild of teachers and realised early on that a good practitioner can be the difference between a lifelong inspiration to learn or doubting one’s own talents and potential forever.

Marlis’s professional journey has taken her through a wide variety of settings in the Early Years sector, working her way up to leadership positions, a BA(Hons) degree in Children’s Development and Learning, and Early Years Teacher Status (PGCE).

Marlis is currently at the heart of the action as Management Lead of a Pre-School, as well as dedicating time to consultancy work and my soul-fire project ‘the Social Gift of Language’.

As an immigrant in the UK, language has long been an integral part of Marlis’s journey. Experiencing first-hand the highs and lows that come with not being able rely on a common language has heavily influenced my professional practice and has led me to dedicating much energy to helping others to bridge language barriers through deep connection and the power of play.
