Stella Smith – Children Looked After: Children’s positive identity in professional practice

Stella Smith is a senior lecturer and placement leader for the BA Early Childhood and Childhood suite of programmes at Nottingham Trent University. Stella has worked in the early childhood sector for the last 11 years beginning her career as an early childhood teacher in private day nurseries then transitioning into further, then higher education. Stella is an adoptive mom and has developed a passion for promoting positive attachments for Children Looked After in Early Childhood Education and Care. This is reflected in Stella’s current doctoral research which explores how Early Childhood practitioners promote positive attachment for Children Looked After within their settings. Stella, alongside her colleague, Kerry-Ann Rawson, are eagerly awaiting the publication of their new book ‘Advocating for Children Looked After: Promoting Positive Identities in Professional Practice’ in the new year.
