Wednesday 29th Jan 2025 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeTechnology and Early Years in the same space seem to be an acquired taste – many people love it or hate it, and as far as the early years curriculum goes, many have chosen to ignore it. Technology is associated with screen time and now AI. However, Richard believes Technology as a tool embedded with STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Maths), is just what the Early Years space needs to bring some WOW back into teaching and learning among Early Years Educators.
In this free early years webinar, Richard will show you:
• What is Early Years Technology?
• What are the common misconceptions around E.Y.T
• Early Years Technology and the EYFS
• STEAM in Early Years
• Intent, Implementation and Impact of Early Years Technology
About the speaker
Richard Waite is an Early Childhood Technology and Online Safety Advisor with over 35 years in Early Childhood Education (ECE). He has a profound passion for nurturing young minds. Richard’s journey began in 1986 with an NNEB Nursery Nursing course, leading to a BSc Honors in Education and Information Management, an NNEB Diploma, and an A Level in English Literature. While studying, Richard worked in electronics and food retail. Despite challenges like a physical injury and societal stigmas, he remained dedicated to ECE. He has held various roles, from Educator to acting Manager, and created a new role as an ICT Coordinator for a large nursery group.
Richard has seen significant changes in ECE, particularly in technology and online safety, fuelling his passion for these areas. As he explores new opportunities in consulting, technology development, education, research, and writing, his goal is to continue positively impacting young children and their families.
